The Z-Pipe by Formula Z Performance is an innovative, patent-pending dual-exhaust crossover engineered to deliver measurable performance gains and a refined exhaust note in an exceptionally compact package. Designed as a superior alternative to a traditional X-pipe, the Z-Pipe maintains a constant, unrestricted exhaust pathway that promotes high-velocity gas flow, improved scavenging, and increased volumetric efficiency.
The Classic 45° Inlet model is based on Formula Z’s most popular Z-Pipe configuration and features integrated 45-degree inlet transitions designed to reduce overall package size compared to using separate mandrel bends ahead of a standard Classic model. This compact inlet geometry allows the Z-Pipe to be positioned further forward toward the headers, helping maximize exhaust scavenging efficiency and improve overall system packaging in tight underbody layouts.
Like all Formula Z Z-Pipes, the Classic 45° Inlet design maintains balanced exhaust flow between both banks while providing a smoother, cleaner exhaust path than a traditional crossover design. The result is improved throttle response throughout the RPM range, increased volumetric efficiency, and a more refined, exotic exhaust tone with reduced harshness and drone.
Each Z-Pipe is manufactured from high-quality 316L stainless steel using advanced Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) and Selective Laser Melting (SLM) additive manufacturing processes. This manufacturing method enables extremely compact geometry and precise internal flow paths while maintaining zero reduction in cross-sectional area.
Unlike conventional X-pipes, which rely on a shared crossover chamber, the Z-Pipe is designed to create a true, balanced exchange between exhaust banks. By splitting and recombining a portion of flow from each side, the Z-Pipe produces a stronger scavenging effect and helps each exhaust pulse pull the next one along. The result is improved horsepower, sharper throttle response, and a cleaner, more balanced exhaust tone.
